The Spanish capital of Madrid is planning to create a huge forest belt around the city to combat poor air quality, absorb carbon, cool it’s temperatures, and make the city a happier and greener place. This ambitious green project is referred to as “El Bosque Metropolitano” (The Metropolitan Forest) and it will include new parks, leisure areas and green bridges over several highways.
