This Underground Pipe Network Efficiently Disposes Of Waste

This underground pipeline system allows the efficient disposal of trash in residential and commercial areas.

It’s called the Area Collection System (ACS) and it’s developed in Finland by MariMatic Oy to allow the automatic collection of waste for an entire area.

It can pick up waste including mixed, bio, tins, cans, glass, plastics, cardboard and paper. The bins on the ground level are clearly marked for recycling.

You first use an electric key to drop off the waste into a hatch, which then goes through an underground pipe network and gets delivered to a local waste processing facility using pneumatic conveying technology.

Since the underground pipe network collects waste from the entire area into the transfer terminals, it results in less odor, microparticles, pest and hygiene issues.

There is also no need for waste trucks to collect the trash from every building which decreases exhaust emissions and noise pollution for the environment.
