This Smart Wristband Scans Barcodes and Tells You What Foods to Buy Based on Your DNA

This is the DnaNudge, a smart wristband that scans barcodes and uses your DNA to ‘nudge’ you into buying the right foods specific to your health. The DnaNudge was invented by Professor Chris Toumazou whose son was born with a genetic predisposition and had to have a healthier, modified diet, and a geneticist/biologist.

The way it works is a saliva swab test is taken and then inserted into a DnaCartridge and placed into a NudgeBox which is sent off to a lab. There, the DNA, which indicates nutrition-related health conditions, is extracted from the sample and analyzed. When the test is complete, the results are loaded onto a personalized capsule that ‘digitizes one’s DNA’ and the data is stored on a chip in the wristband.

An individual’s DNA report, which shows genetic predispositions and risk levels in red, amber or green, is uploaded to an app. When shopping, you can scan a product and the app will show you personalized product recommendations based on your own DNA.
