This Shock-Absorbing ‘Goo’ Protects Athletes from Head Trauma and Soldiers on the Battlefield

UK-based D30, a collective of engineers, chemists, product designers, and industry experts developed D30, a super-impressive “orange goo” or protective material that saves lives. D30 is a soft, stretchy, shock-absorbing polyurethane material containing a non-Newtonian fluid combined with additives. D30 is used across the globe by soldiers, professional athletes, and industrial workers, etc.

There are over 30 commercial D3O materials – and each one caters to the particular needs of various marketplaces and product applications. For example, D30 is used in the construction of lightweight aerodynamic protection for skiers and motorcyclists, precision safety equipment for oil rig workers, or the binding that keeps you’re your iPhone intact.

The D30-based products include high-tech helmet liners and body protection to combat blunt force trauma injuries, as well as footwear products to reduce fatigue and risk of injury. These multi-faceted protective products are used by some of the world’s top sporting brands, including Adidas, Fox, CCM Hockey, and SCOTT Sports.
