This Is ‘Elbee,’ a Tiny ‘Smart Car’ That You Can Drive Directly from Your Wheelchair

This is Elbee, a wheelchair accessible car designed by Elbee Mobility. Similar-looking to a Smart Car, the Elbee eliminates the complicated methods of entering a vehicle because you can drive directly from your wheelchair – thanks to its innovative design and sliding platform. Now, those who previously weren’t able to drive at all or required assistance can travel independently.

Specially designed for urban mobility, Elbee is a two-seater that’s equipped with two types of engines – electric and combustion. The gas engine has a range of 62 miles, and the fully charged electric Elbee has a range of 134 miles. It can also reach up to 50 mph.

Made from aluminum and composite materials, Elbee’s front door is remote control accessible and its sliding ramp tows the wheelchair and its user inside to the position of the driver. Elbee’s compact size allows its user to park facing the pavement, so there’s no need to reverse or find a large parking space.
