This Huge ‘Zip Tie’ Is Actually a Tourniquet That Stops Bleeding in Less Than 5 Seconds

This is the S.T.A.T. Tourniquet by S.T.A.T. Medical Devices, a mass casualty tourniquet that functions like a zip tie and can stop bleeding in less than 5 seconds. It has precision tightening (with 2 mm increments), an automatic locking mechanism, and a safety release lever that ensures the tourniquet will stay secure and in place during transport.

Once fastened and the bleeding has stopped, the tourniquet’s excess strap can be placed in a safety position. Equipped with a built-in-timer, its time strip timer starts counting once activated (batteries aren’t required). The S.T.A.T. Tourniquet is bullet-resistant and will re-seal itself after being shot with a bullet.

When the victim arrives at an operating room, surgeons can easily remove the S.T.A.T. Tourniquet thanks to its highly visible release lever. With smooth edges and easy removal, the tourniquet won’t tear medical gloves. The S.T.A.T. Tourniquet’s familiar and intuitive design allows someone who isn’t trained to easily apply this life-saving tourniquet.
