This is the Podbike Velomobile that was invented “to help bridge the gap between bikes and cars” with the benefits of exercise from cycling and the protection and weather-proofing of the car. Partially human-powered, the Podbike is similar to an e-bike as it provides electrical assist when needed, but it looks like a mini car.
When you travel at 15 mph (25km/h) and are using your own pedal power, you’ll get an electric boost and your speed will increase. With “a focus on sustainable and ethical production with minimal carbon footprint,” Podbike’s vehicle body and the frame are constructed of lightweight yet strong recyclable materials.

The Podbike is easy to enter and exit, as it’s protective shield lifts up and down as if you were a pilot getting into a fighter jet. It pedals backward to reverse, and it can turn easily. Podbike AS was founded in 2016 by Per Hassle Sørensen, TCO and product developer, and Anne-Lise Heggland, CEO. Currently, it has a team in Stavanger, Norway.
