This Company Recycles Plastic Toys and Turns Them into Furniture for Children

Belgium-based brand, ecoBirdy has created a colorful kids’ furniture collection made from old, discarded and unused plastic toys in an effort to raise “awareness for sustainability.” Clean, pure, and 100 percent safe, each piece is entirely made of recycled plastic from European waste.

The recycled plastics are accurately sorted, cleaned, and ground during the recycling process. EcoBirdy points out that the plastic used for its products is absolutely free from harmful chemicals. The entire kids’ furniture collection is produced in Italy where its design is based on social and environmental responsibility.

A storybook accompanies the collection, in addition to a school-program designed to introduce children to the circular economy and inspire them to contribute to a more sustainable future. For example, a bird-shaped storage container with a removable beak is designed to raise awareness of the endangered Kiwi bird, and a rhino-shaped lamp highlights the plight of rhinos.
