These prototype balancing shoes prevent the elderly from falling.
Israeli startup, B-Shoe Technologies Ltd, has designed the anti-fall shoes for senior citizens to prevent them from falling, which is a major cause of injuries and death for the elderly. B-Shoe has a motorized heel that helps to regain balance and keeps the wearer from falling down.

The smart footwear has sensors that detect when the wearer loses balance and the mechanics quickly deploy the mini treadmill-like system that drives the shoe back and as a result, moves the leg to restore balance. It can be worn as a standard walking shoe.
B-Shoe has been a prototype since 2013 but the company hopes to get FDA approval for it as a medical device and get them into production with a retail price range of $500-$1000. This price is still low in comparison with the cost of elderly falls to the health care system.
