Mexico City’s Concrete Highway Pillars Have Transformed into Lush Vertical Gardens

In an effort to improve air quality and to make Mexico City’s Beltway, a heavily-used, iconic expressway, more aesthetically pleasing, the private sector in Mexico City has created the Vía Verde (the Green Way). This “eco-friendly” initiative has transformed more than 1,000 concrete columns into over 15 acres of lush vertical gardens.
