This Self-Driving ‘Robo-Vehicle’ Could Reinvent Urban Delivery

This is the Renault EZ-PRO, a driverless, modular, connected, and 100% electric “robo-vehicle” or concept car targeted at transport and urban parcel and service delivery that’s adapted to the last-mile ecosystem. Designed by Groupe Renault, “the French leader of electric vehicles,” the EZ-PRO concept car follows the ride-sharing, EZ-GO.

With a growing demand for e-commerce delivery, it’s expected that there will be 36% more delivery vehicles in inner cities by 2030. This will lead to a rise in emission and traffic congestion, which without intervention would reportedly increase by over 30% in the top 100 cities globally.

The green EZ-PRO concept is an effective solution for meeting the immediate needs of business and private customers. Controlled by one or more concierges in parcel delivery (for more sensitive deliveries if needed) the EZ-PRO securely delivers items ordered to the location specified by the customer. This could involve lockers that can be opened using a smartphone application.
